Our Beliefs
Our church is a tight-knit community where love, unity, and serving others are central. We're dedicated to sharing the Gospel, living out our faith day by day, and eagerly anticipating the return of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Whether you're looking to deepen your relationship with God or find a welcoming church family, we invite you to join us on this faith journey.
What We Believe
At Shelbyville Community Church, we are committed to living out the Full Gospel message and believe in the transformative power of the entire Bible. Our faith is rooted in the following core beliefs:
-
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the ultimate guide for our faith and practice, revealing God's character, His plans for humanity, and His love for us. -
The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, co-equal and co-eternal. -
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven. He will return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead. -
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift of God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It is available to all who repent of their sins, believe in the Gospel, and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Through His sacrifice, we are forgiven, reconciled to God, and granted eternal life. -
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the present and active ministry of the Holy Spirit, who indwells and empowers believers for godly living and service. The Holy Spirit provides spiritual gifts, guidance, and strength to carry out God's will and witness to the world. -
The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, consisting of all who have accepted Jesus as their Savior. The Church exists to worship God, edify believers, and spread the Gospel to all nations. We are called to live in unity, love, and service to one another. -
Baptism and Communion
We believe in the ordinances of water baptism and Holy Communion. Baptism by immersion symbolizes our identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Communion, or the Lord's Supper, is a remembrance of Christ's sacrifice and a celebration of our covenant with Him. -
The Second Coming
We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ to establish His kingdom on earth. This hope inspires us to live holy lives, faithfully serving God and sharing the message of His love and salvation with others. -
Eternal Destiny
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved will be raised to eternal life in God's presence, while the lost will face eternal separation from God in hell. Our mission is to lead as many as possible to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. -
Living Out Our Faith
We believe that our faith should be evident in every aspect of our lives. We are called to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Through prayer, study of the Scriptures, and reliance on the Holy Spirit, we seek to grow in our relationship with God and live out His purposes for our lives.
